Recording Mahler's fourth symphony

After the successful release of the Mahler 9 CD in June 2014, Camerata RCO is now working on another top-notch studio recording, this time Mahler's fourth Symphony. This will be the 'Stein' version for 12 musicians and solo soprano. This version was especially made by Erwin Stein for the "Verein für musikalische Privataufführingen" (the 'Union for private musical performances') of his teacher, Arnold Schönberg.

Mahler wrote this symphony in G major in 1899 (and 1900). The symphony is build around a simple song ("Das Himmlische Leben", i.e. 'Heavenly Life'), which Mahler wrote in 1892. The symphony has four movements.

This recording will take place in May, 2017, 87 years after the first recording of the fourth Symphony (in May 1930) and 113 years after the first performance in the Concertgebouw (with Mahler conducting himself!).

Your support in making this recording possible will be greatly appreciated!
